An attractive small town built around “the big house”, sporting many individual and specialist shops, cafes and Pubs. Best known for Petworth House and Park, run by the National Trust. Petworth is unusual in that it is home to three sets of Alms Houses, which have been donated by generations of the Dukes of Somerset and their descendants, who own the house. Many houses occupied by Estate Staff, have milk chocolate coloured front doors. Its many antique shops are popular with visitors and there is a large car park in the town centre.

Petworth is 6 miles due east of Pulborough
