Off the beaten track, a good example of a rural Sussex village, in the foothills of the South Downs.

It is best known for the discovery of the remains of a Roman Villa which has some of the most complete mosaic floors in England.
The village churchyard is a haven for nature lovers as the grass is only mown once a year, after all flowering is complete. In recent times they had an annual “Weed Festival” in and around the church.

The surrounding countryside is open farmland with several public footpaths crossing it, which are popular with walkers.

Bignor is 6 miles south-east of Pulborough
