A beautiful historic town sitting alongside the river Arun dominated by its castle, and very popular with both visitors and tourists alike. It also has a wide range of interesting shops, cafes and restaurants.

Through the ruling family, The Dukes of Norfolk, much of English history can be told here.
The town is on a hill and has many old buildings, of which most have preservation orders on them, that fit comfortably within a range of different architectural styles from all periods.

The Roman Catholic Cathedral at the top of the town, plays host to the annual feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Carpet of Flowers, which draws many visitors. The Castle and its Gardens are open during the Summer months, and are well worth visiting.
